What stays on your device
True Highlights saves a few preferences in your browser's local storage — your spoiler-protection settings and your My Games favorites (the teams and leagues you follow). This information stays on your device and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Counting visitors
We count how many people visit, which pages they open, roughly where in the world they are, and whether they come back. The counting is anonymous: no cookies, no accounts, no profiles. Your IP address is seen momentarily to serve pages and work out your country, and we don't keep it. Our counting keeps only totals — visitors per day, popular pages, and how many return within a week. We also tally which highlights get played and which leagues get opened, as totals, never tied to a person. Alongside our own counting, our hosting providers give us basic aggregate visit statistics.
We do this for one reason: to see which pages and leagues matter so we can improve the site. We have no interest in who any individual visitor is, nothing here is used to build a profile or follow you across other sites, and no consent banner is needed because none of it stores anything on your device. Until mid-September 2026 an older counting method also runs; it keeps a short record of each page view (no IP address), and those records will be deleted when it is retired.
Embedded videos
Highlights play through embedded YouTube players. When you press play, YouTube/Google may set their own cookies and collect data under Google's Privacy Policy. That happens within YouTube's player, not on our servers, and only once you start a video.
Highlight alerts (only if you opt in)
You can optionally sign up for highlight alerts — a spoiler-free email when new highlights land for the teams and leagues you follow. This is the one feature where we store anything on our side, and only if you choose it.
- What we store: your email address, the teams and competitions you picked to follow, a random token that stands in for a login, and the date you signed up. Nothing else — no passwords, and never the scores or results themselves.
- Why: solely to send you the alerts you asked for. We don't use your email for anything else.
- Double opt-in: after you sign up we email you a confirmation link, and we only start sending once you click it — so nobody can sign you up without your say-so.
- No accounts, no login: there's no password. The links in your emails open a private “Manage your alerts” page where you can change which teams and leagues you follow at any time.
We will never sell or share your email, and we never use it for marketing or hand it to advertisers. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link — clicking it (or the “Unsubscribe” option on your manage page) immediately and permanently deletes your record from our database. You can re-subscribe any time.
To send these emails we use Resend, an email delivery service, which processes your address only to deliver the alerts.
Hosting & service providers
The site runs on Netlify and Cloudflare; alert emails are delivered by Resend; videos are embedded from YouTube. These providers handle data only to run the service — we don't sell or share your information with anyone, and there is no advertising or cross-site tracking anywhere on True Highlights.
